Allspice berries are the unripe fruit of the Pimenta tree. They are also known as Jamaican pepper and for good reason, its native to the warmer climates and is a key ingredient in Jamaican cooking. These berries were giving the name allsice in English as they seem to give the aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove all at once!
Use allspice berries to add a savory or warming component to soups, stews, and gamey meats. Or it is delicous when combined with sweeter flavors as in cakes, desserts, and more!
